I bought a photograph from an art show in New York a few years ago. It’s a black and white medium format shot from a back window in a house looking out over a maze of gardens, the view partially blocked by a line of washing hanging across the frame. It’s a nice shot but to be honest, I could take it or leave it. What made me buy it was the hand scrawled caption next to the photo in the frame: “When I look at this, I wonder why I am ever anxious.”
This photo is my equivalent.
